Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Harty’s Fishing & Hardware Limited respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you shop on this website, contact us, use our services or enquire about Stay & Supply.
Who to contact
For privacy questions, access or correction requests, contact our privacy officer through info@hartysfishingandhardware.nz, 07 825 8881, or Harty’s Fishing & Hardware, 1 Wallis Street, Raglan 3225, New Zealand.
Information you provide
We collect the information needed to respond to you and provide our products and services. This may include your name, email, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, account details, orders, payment status, delivery instructions and messages. Service enquiries may include details about your fishing gear and preferred drop-off time. Supply enquiries may include property details, guest capacity and the items you need.
If you subscribe to news, we collect the contact details you submit. If you submit photos or videos, we receive that content and the associated submission details. Any permission to publish or use submitted content is covered by the terms and consent shown on the submission form.
Why we use it
We use personal information to process orders and payments, arrange delivery or collection, manage customer accounts, respond to enquiries, provide services, deal with returns and maintain business records. We also use relevant technical information to keep the website working, prevent misuse and understand problems with our shop or search.
We send marketing updates when you subscribe or otherwise consent. You can unsubscribe using the link in an update or by contacting us. Essential messages about an order or enquiry are separate from marketing.
Payments and service providers
Stripe handles online payment details through its secure payment fields. We receive the payment information needed to administer an order, such as its status and transaction reference; we do not receive your full card number through those fields. If you choose to save a payment method, the payment provider manages the stored payment credential.
We share information with providers only as needed to run the service: for example our website and hosting support, WooCommerce store tools, Lightspeed inventory and order integration, payment providers, couriers and communication providers. These providers may process information outside New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards for the information they handle on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law.
Cookies and external services
The shop uses cookies and similar browser storage for features such as the cart, login and checkout. Search and website logs may record search terms, IP addresses, device/browser details and requests to help operate and secure the site. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the shop from working.
Social links and embedded media may connect to services such as YouTube, Facebook or Instagram. Their privacy policies apply when you use them. Accommodation bookings take place on Airbnb, which manages the booking information under its own policy. Supply enquiries sent to the email address on our Supply page are used to respond to and arrange your requested package.
Retention, security and your rights
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for its purpose and applicable recordkeeping obligations, then delete or de-identify it where practical. We use reasonable access controls and security measures to protect it. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
You may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask for corrections. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can also ask us to close an account or remove information; some records may need to be retained for legal or business reasons. You do not have to provide optional information, but without details needed to fulfil an order or enquiry we may be unable to provide that service.
If you have a concern, contact us first. If it remains unresolved, you may contact New Zealand’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner. We may update this policy as our services change; the date above identifies the current version.
