The Shimano Sienna 4000 spinning reel paired with the Shimano Catana 5-8kg spin rod is a great entry level, versatile set designed for lure fishing. While this has been predominantly been designed as a slow jigging set due to the shorter length of the rod, you are more than capable of casting softbaits for snapper with it (just remember you won’t be able to cast as far).
The Shimano Sienna 4000 fishing reel is a great little powerhouse for the price, packing over 8kg of drag, 200+ metres of 15lb line and weighing a mere 320 grams. Complimenting the specifications, the AR-C spool and Instant Anti Reverse really round out this cool little reel.
Due to the blank specifications, the Shimano Catana rod has a really nice balanced feel, while incorporating a powerful mid section under load, and sensitivity while the fish may be soft on the bite.
Coming with a spool of Shimano Kairiki braid, this is a great set for those wanting to target snapper over the sand or even trout in the lakes.
